I wrote a book! dalelane.co.uk/blog/?p=4277 (yes, yes, I know I've tweeted about this before, but I'm excited so bear with me... and I haven't tweeted about what's in the book before - so that's new 😜)

I’m running a competition to give away copies of my book, Machine Learning for Kids. To enter, you just need to send me an idea for something on @MLforKids that would teach kids about AI/ML. The five best ideas will each win a book. Details at dalelane.co.uk/blog/?p=4362

Faith and I made a new game: voice-powered laser eyes 😁 Two ML models in this one - speech recognition to activate the lasers, and face detection to aim them!

Do you have opinions on how GCSE Computer Science students should be assessed for their programming ability? There is a consultation open at gov.uk/government/consultations/future-assessment-arrangements-for-gcse-computer-science If nothing else, it's an interesting read.

The next feature coming to @MLforKids is going to be letting students train sound recognition ML models, and use them in #Scratch with scripts that fire when a sound is heard. For a quick look at the current prototype, watch youtu.be/nuNATCTqGHg

I've written a new @MLforKids project about phishing - students train a machine learning model that can predict if a URL is for a phishing site or a legitimate site. machinelearningforkids.co.uk/worksheets

This is a fun family hack. They used @MLforKids to train an @IBMWatson image recognition classifier to recognise duckweed, and loaded that onto a @Raspberry_Pi in a homemade floating vacuum cleaner. It powers up the vacuum when it sees duckweed. So cool! youtu.be/59KP8VCT8kI?t=155

Just added a new @MLforKids worksheet to the site. Train two different image classifiers, then give them both a Rorschach test and compare the answers they give.

I've written a new @MLforKids worksheet The project is an AI-powered traffic camera game you make in @scratch, where you have to train a #machinelearning model to recognise if there are passengers in the car. dalelane.co.uk/blog/?p=4953

For #ScratchDay my percussion-obsessed children made a drum kit with @scratch and @makeymakey Because that makes a nice change from their normal weekend of playing drums at home 🤷♂️

Some of the families made their own virtual Alexa in @scratch that can understand commands to turn things on and off #LonPiJam
