Great day at @AsyncAPISpec Conf - it had the vibe of a small community meet-up more than a conference, and I loved it - huge thanks to everyone who contributed #AsyncAPIConf conference.asyncapi.com/venue/london

first day back in the office after a week away, which means a chance to check on my pigeons... they've grown up so much in a week! youtu.be/nOVDyOImLzY

Hello again, UK. That felt like a long flight… people who are able to sleep in economy seats on flights continue to amaze and baffle me. 🤷♂️

I'm loving The Sphere, one of the new additions to Vegas since I was last here. It's hard to get your head around how enormous it is - as you walk towards it, it just doesn't seem to get any closer! thespherevegas.com

I’m in Las Vegas all week for #IBMTechXchange Different vibe to the times I’ve been here before for Think - more Show than Tell. For example, I’m only doing one presentation all week, but I’m running four long, hands-on technical labs.

Added another social network (Bluesky) to my list at dalelane.co.uk Not sure cross-posting to lots of places is an effective way to engage, but it’ll do until I can work out where to make home

I continue to be slightly obsessed with the pigeon nest on the ledge next to my desk... but I defy you to tell me the feeding at about 1 minute into this isn't the cutest thing you've seen today ;-) youtu.be/975q1M23hi4

The pigeon eggs on the ledge next to my desk have hatched! 🪺 It's very sweet - their necks aren't strong enough to hold up their heads... 🥹 youtube.com/watch?v=e--eoCYF_tM

AsyncAPI Conference comes to London in a couple of weeks - the agenda is looking super interesting. If you're interested in immersing yourself in documenting event driven applications for a day, you should get yourself a ticket conference.asyncapi.com/venue/london

We've got work experience students at Hursley this week. Always fun - but this week is a bit different for me as F is one of them. She's on a different bit of the site to me with a different team, so she's spared embarrassing Dad - although I might get a lunchtime or two 🤷♂️

In London - drove G to her new uni house, with a (packed!) car load of her stuff. Strange feels! 🥹

Playdate cruelly got my hopes up by putting the new Lucas Pope game in the catalog - when I click through it says "Coming Soon". 🥹 play.date/games/mars-after-midnight/

(very!) early start to the day - presenting about what we're doing with Event Endpoint Management at Apidays Connect Hong Kong apidays.hk

I've created some #MQTT blocks for @scratch. You could make simple multiplayer games with this - if a #Scratch project published events about what a sprite is doing, this could be instantly reflected in other Scratch projects in other browsers. dalelane.co.uk/blog/?p=4974

My first day at IBM was 20 years ago today. 😮 🎉 Ten years ago, I wrote dalelane.co.uk/blog/?p=2870 I think it all still applies... except today I can answer the question that ten-years-ago-me asked ("Will I be here for another ten years?")

Finally completed Ratcheteer (a Zelda-esque game for the Playdate). Such a lovely game ❤️ play.date/games/ratcheteer/

Adding #MQTT support to #Scratch means projects running in different browsers can communicate with each other dalelane.co.uk/blog/?p=4974

Just watched the latest instalment of Tom Cruise Running. It was fun - especially the first half. I didn’t enjoy it as much as the last one, but that’s cos something-something-AI-kill-us-all movies bore me a bit

First day back in the office after vacation. I've left headphones and all my aeropress filters at home, so I'm off to a good start(!)

Listened to this on the drive home. I hadn’t heard of Prigozhin before last month, so this dive into where he came from was very interesting overcast.fm/+BCnL5RX0kE

Finished filling in my Self Assessment for HMRC. Always a joy(!)

It’s ridiculous, but I’m looking forward to this. They must be reaching the limit of 80’s/90’s character names you can force “bro” into @NinSwitchNews/1684987678230790144

Found Gatecrasher for the @playdate on itch - cool little game. There’s something about the novelty and responsiveness of the crank as a control mechanism that makes even simple ideas feel fun youtu.be/e5brbgCeVVo

dalelane.co.uk/blog/?p=4964 I like trying new things… here are a few of the more unusual things I’ve tried in the last year. I think the flotation therapy was probably the most unusual…
